Areas of Practice
Sports Medicine — Injury Evaluation & Return-to-Play Care
Dr. Riva evaluates and treats sports-related injuries, joint pain, soft tissue strains, and decreased athletic performance. Treatment begins with a thorough history, physical exam, and imaging review — followed by a collaborative decision-making conversation about your options. Common treatments include physical therapy, medications, bracing, ultrasound-guided injections, and return-to-play planning.
Orthobiologics — PRP, BMAC & Regenerative Treatments
For patients with joint pain, tendon injuries, or arthritis who want an alternative to surgery or long-term medications, advanced biologic treatments may be an option. Dr. Riva offers:
- Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) — concentrated growth factors from your own blood to stimulate healing in tendons, ligaments, and joints
- Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) — cells harvested from your own bone marrow for more complex conditions
A detailed consultation including history, physical exam, and imaging review is required before any orthobiologic treatment. Insurance covers the consultation visit; treatment costs are discussed in advance.
Cryotherapy & Cryoneurolysis - iovera
As a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) with Pacira Cryotech, Dr. Riva offers cryoneurolysis — iovera - a targeted nerve-cooling treatment that interrupts pain signals for months at a time. This is a powerful option for patients undergoing knee replacement surgery. More about iovera
